It’s finally here – the Apple iPad

Ta Da!!!

….

Well, it’s hard to hype up something that’s been overhyped since before it hit the market (has yet to hit the market actually).

There’s a 3G option – that’s cool.  Too bad it comes exclusively through you-know-who.  All models come with WiFi though.

Of note, Apple seems to have recognized (finally) that their previous price points have been off-point, as the iPad will reportedly be priced in the $499 to $899 range.

So what do the who’s it think about the you know what?  Here’s a brief bit of news from around the Web:

Nuff said.

What’s the Word?

Well, this week in Tech News the word is Bill … as in Gates.

First there’s Facebook.  Yes, B.G. has returned to Facebook.  Ta Da!  This after previously stating “it’s way too much trouble.”  Never mind that.  The man is back and he’s got 58k+ fans to boot.  Want to “fan” Bill?  Check out his Facebook fan page .  So far it’s one page of posts – although the travel pictures of his time in India & Africa are definitely worth checking out.

Things were all a Twitter last night about B.G. and his entree into Twitterville.  A mere eight hours after joining the land of the Tweeters, he had racked up 100,000 followers and by lunchtime today, he was well over 200,000 followers.  How, you ask, do you get to that level?  Well, take $2k and buy a bit of code called DOS, create a mega titan software company and, well, I guess you’ll have 200k followers in 24 hours.  Interested in his tweets (all 8 of them so far)?  Just follow him @BillGates  (what else?).

In tandem with the timing of the Gates networking splash, B.G. has launched a new site today called The Gates Notes .  Yes, even you can have access to Bill’s mind!  One of the tabs is even entitled “What I’m Thinking About.”   No, not me, silly, Bill…

I always say, no matter what side of the tech fence you come down on, businesswise, you’ve got to give him credit.  Bill Gates is doing the social networking thing – are you plugged in?

AOL ♥ Mashable?

Well, I’ve heard a lot of “rumors” in my time on the various social networks, and I have to say short of: The Pad that Didn’t Crunch, The Apple Tablet that Could and The Google Phone that Would, this has to be about the biggest of them all… Mashable and AOL… Will they or won’t [...]

Twitter App Review: Twitterific

Until I had an iPhone, I was a staunch Twitter web interface user.  I would use it while I was on or near my computer, which was a decent amount of the time when I was home, especially when I was unemployed and looking for work.  Then my contract, well my wife’s contract with Verizon [...]
